So why cant DVD's play CD's with DVD files?
Bob Tasa - May 19, 2003 at 10:26pm

I was asking myself this question. No cash for a DVD player
for a while. So I was playing around with DVDit LE that
came with Premiere. Its pretty cool for a basics kind of a
DVD editor (all I need for what I am doing)..
Anyway, I tried to create a DVD volume and burn it on a
CD. I suceeded. When I placed it into my PC it started playing
the Mpeg2. I said COOL. Then I ran to my set top. NO go. sad
I then use DVDit and Premeire to make a VCD. Now the quality was
not as good but taking it to my setup DVD player and it worked.
Then I was happy and confused. If the player can play MPEG1 files
on a CD, why not MPEG2 files? Whats up with that?
